The beautiful, popular venue of The Blazing Donkey was the location for todays wedding which is possibly in one of the best named hamlets ever, Ham, Sandwich.
Another we had been looking forward to for a while as we got along great with Robert & Jodie after we met up with them for a coffee in Costa. We were excited about Robert wearing a kilt from Slaters, we always love things a bit different and there were lots of stunning detail shots for us to take during this lovely day, plus Jodie's dress from Pumpkins & Dragonflies was gorgeous!
The venue has the perfect area for an outdoor wedding, which in todays sunny weather was ideal! Jodie, her mum Teresa and her bridesmaids could get ready upstairs above the restaurant and sneaky peek at the guests arriving. Plus they have a marquee for the reception which was beautifully decorated in purples & lilacs with a butterfly theme. Oh and we can't ignore the huge tower of wedding themed cupcakes by the fantastic Gilli at Gilli's Cakes & Cupcakes.
We had plenty of chances to capture some magical portrait shots of them both too, the venue is surrounded by fields and country lanes. What more could you want for a perfect wedding day!
ANDY & KATHERINE ST ANDREWS CHURCH & STRIPES FOLKESTONE
This was a wedding that we had been looking forward to for ages! We were in constant contact with Katherine over the 16 months between booking and Andy & Katherine's wedding day. Just chatting about photo's, ideas, giving her advice when needed so they both felt like old friends when they day finally arrived.
Katherine dress, from Wedding World Kent, was absolutely beautiful! We had a lovely few hours photographing all the little details along with Katherine, her bridesmaids and her lovely mum all having their hair and makeup done at their flat in Folkestone. Quite often with weddings, we split up when possible, so that we could photograph Andy getting himself ready too long with Ethan, their son.
St Andrews Church is a modern church, flooded with light unlike many older churches and the Rev Sam was fantastic throughout! A lovely lady with a sense of humour who was very relaxed in regards to photography.
As the reception venue didn't have much grounds, we popped off to Kings North Park for some photos with Andy & Katherine and we took some beautiful photos of them both. Such a lovely, fun couple who made the job so easy!
Huge thanks also to Button & Bouquets who supplied their beautiful wedding car and Tracy from Acula Creations who dressed Katherine, helped us out all day, as well as making the Bridesmaids dresses.
So today we were going to be trying something new. A baby Cake Smash shoot! These seem to be so popular in America and we are starting to see more people doing them in the UK so when asked by one of our 2014 brides, daughter Azariah if we could give it a go for her daughters first birthday, we jumped at the chance!
The shoot was in Ramsgate at Azariahs new house and also Luke & Melissa, Marnie's grandparents were there too, who's wedding we shot September 2014 at Salmestone Grange.
You would expect a kid to see a cake sitting in front of it and dive right in but Marnie was so delicate about it and didn't seem to want to get herself dirty haha! But after some encouragement from her mum, she started getting messy!
This was actually a really fun shoot, definitely hoping to do some more of these in between our busy wedding season.
