So today's wedding was always going to be an emotional one. There is a story to go with this one too!
We first met Ben & Kirsty when we were looking for a DJ for our wedding back in 2013. They were also planning their wedding and they were looking for a photographer, so we met up to chat about both working for each other. That evening we chatted for hours about pretty much everything but work and a friendship began.
Then in July 2013, Kirsty was involved in an accident which left her in a wheelchair and paralysed from the waist down. Things definitely changed for Ben & Kirsty but it didn't stop them from continuing to plan their dream wedding. Kirsty story is one of strength, determination and bravery. She has refused to let her disability stop her doing anything! We are so proud to call Ben & Kirsty our friends and to have been asked, as friends, to photograph their wedding.
They chose the stunning Hayne Barn House in Saltwood, a venue who pushed above and beyond to make the venue work for Kirsty in her wheelchair. Building ramps and doing everything they could to accommodate. We had stayed with them the night before, so we were with them, ready to start shooting nice and early.
The whole day was definitely emotional, many tears shed. Its very different filming two of your friends wedding day. It doesn't feel like work as you have such an emotional connection to everything. You know them so well and know what they want plus working with a wheelchair does bring its challenges but we did it! Everyone made this such a beautiful day for two very special people who we are so grateful to always have in our lives and we know that they are going to have an amazing life together.
