Venue - The Holiday Inn, St Nicholas Church & Egerton Village Hall
Location - Hothfield, Malherbe, Ashford
Date - 24th August 2013
Darren and Vanessa's wedding on Saturday the 24th August was a wedding booking that I had marked down in my calendar for quite sometime. It was also the last wedding that I would be undergoing before our own wedding on 31st August so I was definitely in the wedding mood on this day. Unfortunately the weather decided it was going to be a rainy one but why would we let a little thing like that worry us.
They had booked just myself for their wedding so I set off early that morning to head to the first venue of the day whilst Claire went shopping with a friend for a last few wedding bits in Canterbury. The Holiday Inn in Hothfield was where Vanessa and her bridesmaids were to be getting themselves ready. It was a bit of a nightmare to get to the hotel due to flooded roads because of the heavy rain but I still arrived in plenty of time due to setting off early.
Vanessa had her hair done by the hairdresser, whilst the make up artist done her nails and makeup, then once finished they moved on to the 2 bridesmaids and flower girl. They were also enjoying a bottle of bubbly whilst being pampered and once it was time for them to get dressed, I left them to get ready. I got a few more photos of the final preparation and then headed down stairs with them to the wedding car which was a beautiful pink Rolls Royce, then drove over to the church.
I arrived a little bit before the bride so I could get some photos of the guests and of course the groom. Due to the rain, Darren and his ushers were guiding people into the church with umbrellas. St Nicholas Church is set in a small, quaint farming village. Its so lovely inside so makes for a beautiful ceremony. Vanessa was so excited and really couldn't wait for the ceremony to start. Throughout the service, she didn't stop smiling and laughing and Darren looked like the proudest man in the world. It was a beautiful ceremony and afterwards we got some shots at the church doors mainly due to the rain that was still falling. But neither of them seemed at all worried about the weather, they were just so happy to be newlyweds.
We arrived at the reception venue, Egerton Village Hall, a barn style building with beautiful countryside surrounded it. They were greeted with a glass of pimms then completed the traditional receiving line to welcome their guest into the reception hall. Vanessa had requested some photos of them both on the bucking bronco that they had hired so we headed outside to the tented area. They both were laughing so much and I really did have so much fun photographing them riding it. Afterwards the bar and buffet opened, so I worked my way around the room, photographing the guests. Everyone was having so much fun and this continued into the evening. There was also a hog roast served and a surfboard area and bouncy castle which even Vanessa and Darren made full use of.
This felt like such a fun and easygoing wedding to photograph. Everyone was thoroughly enjoying themselves, riding the various rides and bouncy castle they had hired. They wanted it to be very relaxed, with some traditional shots but mainly just to capture everyone having fun and I feel I definitely did that! Darren and Vanessa are a lovely couple and I wish them all the happiness in married life together.
