On the 18th May 2013 we had the fun of a road trip, travelling back up to the Midlands to Nottinghamshire to photograph the wedding of Ian and Rebecca.
As we were booked for all day wedding photography, we started the day by arriving at Rebecca’s parents home where Rebecca and her bridesmaids were to be getting ready. It was a lovely atmosphere from the moment we walked in. We were welcomed like one of their family, with cups of tea and coffee and bacon sandwiches. Always a great start when food is involved!
We managed to get some great shots of Rebecca having both her hair and makeup done and also of her 3 bridesmaids doing the same and also got to know her family and friends coming and going at the busy house that morning. Rebecca and her bridesmaids eventually got into their dresses and tears were shed by family but especially her mum Kate who was definitely a proud parent that day!
We moved on to Blidworth Methodist Church which was only a few minutes up the road and waited there for the ceremony to start. Ian and Rebeccas little boy, Max was waiting for his mum to arrive so that he could walk in front of her down the aisle which was a picture in itself. The ceremony was very relaxed for a church service. Rev David Greenwood even brings elements of humour into the service and with it being a very emotional wedding, with lots of smiles, laughter and tears, it was easy to get some beautiful, natural photos of the bridal party.
Afterwards we followed Ian and Rebecca to their nan's garden for some couple photos, then continued on to the reception venue, Papplewick and Linby Village Hall. There was a great open space at the rear of the hall so we took full advantage of this for a few group shots they wanted but also Ian and Rebecca got the chance to play around on the swings for some fun wedding photos.
We were also invited along for the sit down meal, which was really kind of both Ian and Rebecca. The hall was beautifully decorated in shades of green, their colour choice, with flowers and baskets filled with games on each table and a lovely table plan which was a collage of their favourite photos. The food was amazing!! Yes I do love my food. It was a ploughman's style buffet, followed by a stand of cakes on each table then the evening consisted of Pie and mushy peas and a dessert table. I was in heaven! We stayed through all the speechs until the first dance as Rebecca requested. After eating a lot of pie, as we were told by Rebecca that we wasn't allowed to leave until we had eaten pie haha, we headed back to my parents house, our hotel for the night.
We both had a wonderful time photographing the special day of Ian and Rebecca's wedding. We wish them and Max, a very happy life together as a family and class them both as dear friends.
