Location - Cliftonville, Margate
Date - 19th July 2012
So we made a decision to watch the London 2012 Torch Relay away from the Margate Harbour as we knew it was very busy down there and with the current Sea Defence Works being done, not too much room to get some good shots.
We took a stroll down Northdown Road towards Palm Bay and found a great place to wait, as patiently as we could, for the Torch to travel past. To be honest, it was much busier than expected but a great carnival like atmosphere. Everyone was waving Union Jack flags, there was bunting everywhere and even Kent Police were getting into the party mood whilst escorting traffic and advising everyone on the estimated time of Torch arrival.
Derek Harding was the Torch bearer we watched on the Northdown Road/Cliftonville route. There were various sponsor floats in the procession along with bikers, joggers, coaches of Torch bearers, film crews and general members of the public running alongside the Torch trying to keep up. It lasted in all around 15 minutes, the weather stayed good so that was definitely a bonus and i'm really pleased with the images taken considering it was just a last minute decision to watch the torch in Cliftonville.
