Patrick & Jacqueline
Venue - The Archbishops Palace & Howard Memorial Hall
Location - Maidstone & Gillingham, Kent
Date - 5th April 2014
Today is the last wedding of the old packages, the last one without Claire being my sidekick lol so I headed off to Jacqueline's house in Chatham, which was the wedding preparation venue.
I was looking forward to this one, especially with it having a vintage 1950's theme! I got there for 12pm, Jacqueline's hair had just been finished and it looked amazing! I worked between shooting the girls all applying their makeup and the dresses, accessories and flowers that were just waiting to be photographed. Always like to get those detail shots.
It was Jacqueline's daughters Ellie & Rosalind's job to get their mum into her wedding dress first then headed off to get changed into their brightly coloured blue bridesmaid dresses. Jacqueline's grandson Noah was also changed into a cute little vintage sailor outfit for the wedding. Once everyone was ready we headed off to The Archbishops Palace for the ceremony.
On arrival, there were guests ready in their 1950's outfits and waiting to be photographed and I took advantage of them awaiting the bride! A basket of buttonholes was passed around, people helping each other as lets face it, most of us are useless at attaching button holes to a jacket haha! I got a few shots of the bridesmaids and also of Patrick and his best man heading inside to wait for Jacqueline to arrive.
I took a few photos of Jacqueline arriving then joined the guests inside in The Solar Room. The venue is fantastic with it being formally the 14th Century residence of the Archbishops of Canterbury. Patrick seemed very relaxed and had a big smile on his face when she walked in.
The ceremony was lovely with a few readings from family/friends and they both seemed very relaxed, enjoying every moment!
Afterwards we headed outside to take some photos in the gardens plus those all important confetti shots. I think even if you are trying to stay away from tradition, you can't not get covered in confetti and continue finding it weeks later lol. Once we had the photos they wanted, we all headed to the reception venue of Howard Memorial Hall in Gillingham.
The venue looks very simple from the outside but I snuck inside whilst waiting for the newly weds to arrive in their car and had a look around. Always good to get some photos before the place gets swarmed by hungry/thirsty guests. The hall looked amazing plus Patrick & Jacqueline hadn't seen it decorated and were both slightly emotional when they walked into the hall.
Once everyone was inside, afternoon tea was served. I was told to help myself and of course went straight for coffee cake lol! There was a very relaxed and happy atmosphere inside, everyone catching up with people they hadn't seen for ages or met before. The speeches followed which were very entertaining, so funny to watch and involved mainly them laughing. Of course I am usually there until the 1st dance so once I got these, I headed off home. Its always lovely photographing weddings that are relaxed and fun and this was definitely one of those!
