Location - Joss Bay
Event Organisers - Joss Bay Surf School
Date - 15th August 2012
The Wheels and Fins Festival was held at Joss Bay Surf School in Joss Bay, Broadstairs over the weekend of 15th-16th September 2012.
It was a lovely, warm sunny day and we arrived at the festival for around 11.30am to find the beach already filling up with families and people taking part in the various activities planned for the day.
There was a marquee in place for the beer and smoothies along with a BBQ and stage for the various bands and singers performing. They also had a Vans Skateboard Ramp set up along with volleyball nets. There were plenty of activities for the children too with bouncy castles and trampolines on the beach.
There was a schedule of events for the day which consisted of:
Vans Skateboard Mini Ramp Competition
Vans Pro Skateboarder Demo
Fanatic Stand Up Paddle Board Race
ION Stand Up Paddle Board Time Trials
Soap Box Derby
Downhill/Slalom Skateboard Competition
Beach Volleyball Tournament
Licensed Beer Tent
Live Music & DJ's
Barbecue / Hog Roast
It was a great atmosphere on Joss Bay, especially watching the Stand Up Paddle Board race. Everyone was on their feet watching the competitors taking part and I was able to get in a great position to get some shots. We both enjoyed the festival and you could see everyone else on the beach did too. The music and party went on into the evening and it seemed to be not only a great turn out but also a well run, organised and successful event.
